Paul is a sophomore majoring in piano performance at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, studying with Dr. Caleb Harris. He began playing the piano under his father’s instruction at the age of five. Since then, he has also studied privately with Linda Skaret, Pamela Brunson, and Larry Graham. Paul also studied with Dr. Michael Baron on full scholarship at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers last year and had taken private lessons with him for several years prior to that.

Paul was the Music Teachers National Association Junior Piano Competition winner for the state of Colorado in 2006 and 2007. He was the Senior Division winner of the 2009 MTNA Senior Piano Competition for the state of Colorado. Paul was also a national finalist in the both the 2010 and the 2011 MTNA Senior Piano Duet Competition. Paul just recently won the state round of the MTNA Senior Piano Competition for Colorado in October 2011 and is advancing to the regionals in January 2012.

In the Colorado State Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition, Paul was the Junior winner in 2008 and the winner of the Senior Division in 2009. He performed with the Timberline Symphony in February 2008, and again in February 2009. Paul won the 2008 Pikes Peak Philharmonic Concerto Competition and performed with them in May that year. He was also the winner of the 2008 Pikes Peak Philharmonic Concerto Competition, and performed with them in May that year. In 2010 Paul won the Wells Music Yamaha Piano Competition In Denver and performed with the Breckenridge Music Festival in August that year. He was also a winner of the Ars Flores Young Artists Concerto Competition in November 2010 and performed with the Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra in January 2011.

Other past achievements include winning the Front Range Music Teachers Association competitions 2002 through 2004, and Pikes Peak Music Teachers Association competitions 2003 through 2008, as well as performing in several masterclasses with artists of note.
