Kristen began playing violin at age five and began her orchestral experiences at age eleven. She was a member of the Young Concert Artists Orchestra in Colorado Springs from 2000 to 2003, sitting Co-concertmaster iin her last season. Kristen was the winner of the 2003 Young Concert Artists Concerto Competition. In 2003, she joined the Denver Young Artists Orchestra and played three seasons. In her last season, 2006, she was the Assistant Concertmaster. Kristen was also Assistant Principal Second Violinist in the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs during the 2005-2006 season.

In the fall of 2006, Kristen entered Colorado State University and began pursuing a degree in Violin Performance. She was the winner of the 2007 Colorado State University concerto competition.

In the fall of 2007, Kristen entered Columbus State University in Georgia and studied under Sergiu Schwartz. She graduated in May 2010 Suma Cum Laude with a degree in violin performance.

After completing her undergraduate degree, Kristen began pursuing a master's degree at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. After completing just one semester she met the man of her dreams while on Christmas break. After completing her second semester she put her degree pursuit on hold and was married in July, 2011.
